NOVEMBER 25: Arrival in Tel Aviv, Israel
Arrive at Ben Gurion International Airport. Meet and greet at the airport and transfer to our hotel in Tel Aviv.
Check in at hotel for a group dinner and overnight in Tel Aviv. (D)
NOVEMBER 26: Jaffa and Tel-Aviv
Spend the morning photographing the old city of Jaffa where we will visit and capture one of the oldest ports in the region. Explore the beautiful narrow streets, and visit the colorful local market. After lunch photograph the highlights of Tel-Aviv, a hi-tech city with beautiful beaches, coffee shops and unique architecture. Photograph the sunset from a rooftop. Overnight in Tel Aviv. (B,D)
NOVEMBER 27: Northern Coast: Haifa and Acco
Full day to explore with the camera: Photograph and explore Caesarea, the famous old Herodian city; the beautiful Bahai Gardens in Haifa, a major port city built on a mountain overlooking the sea; and Acco, a small coastal town north of Haifa with rich history, colorful markets stalls and amazing spices. Transfer to the hotel in Tiberias for dinner and overnight. (B,D)
NOVEMBER 28: Galilee - North of Israel
Morning cruise on the Sea of Galilee aboard a working replica of a 2,000-year-old fishing boat. Then, a day-tour in Galilee. Along the way to Nazareth, pass through Jezreel Valley, visit the Church of the Annunciation, St Joseph.
Continue through Cana with a stop at the Church of Multiplication. View the Mountain of Beatitude on the shores of the Sea of Galilee. Finally, visit the "Yardenit," the Baptism site on Jordan River where we'll bathe in the water. Overnight in Tiberias. (B,D)
NOVEMBER 29: Petra, Jordan
Early morning border crossing into Jordan. . Your tour guide will assist you with the arrival formalities and visa.
Transfer to the best preserved example of Roman civilization, the
city of Jerash. Jerash, part of the Decapolis (the ten big Roman cities
of the East) called the "Pompeii of the East" for its unique
state of preservation. The city features theaters, churches, temples
(Zeus and Artemis), a Nymphaeum and colonnaded streets. Photograph Mt. Nebo, the alleged burial site of Moses overlooking the Jordan Valley and the Dead Sea. Continue to the mosaic city of Madaba, where the oldest map of the Holy Land exists on the floor of
Saint George’s Church. Overnight in Petra, Jordan. (B,D)
NOVEMBER 30: Petra and Wadi Rum Jordan
In the morning, guided tour in Petra, the breathtaking Nabatean old city. Photograph the Siq, Treasury, Obelisk Tomb, Calligraphy, Jabal Madbach (sacrificial palace), Tombs, Theater and Mountaintop Tombs.
After lunch transfer to Wadi Rum for sunset and to stay the night in the beautiful bedouin camp. Photograph star trails this evening. (B,D)
DECEMBER 1 : Wadi Rum Jeep Safari Tour & Jerusalem
After breakfast take a Jeep Safari tour into the vast and colorful moon-like landscaped desert where the film the The Martian was filmed. Continue to Khazali Canyon an iconic feature in Wadi Rum, that allows you to photograph many Nabatean inscriptions and drawings. Photograph the Sand dunes and transfer to Aqaba for a short visit before we cross back into Israel. Our border representative will assist you with the departure
procedures. Transfer to Jerusalem– the birthplace of the world’s three major religions in Israel. Check in at your hotel for dinner and
overnight. Your hotel is conveniently located near the Old
City walls, shops, restaurants and other city attractions. (B,D)
DECEMBER 2: Jerusalem - Old City & Bethlehem
After breakfast begin a day-long escorted tour of Israel. In the Old City, visit Mount Zion to see the tomb of King David and the nearby Room of the Last Supper. Walk through the Cardo, the main street of historic Jerusalem, and on to the Jewish Quarter. Experience the Temple Mount and the Western Wall, the holiest site in Judaism. Walk along the Via Dolorosa on the Stations of the Cross, and continue to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher.
Later, proceed to Mount Scopus, and then on to Mount of Olives for a grand panoramic view of the Old City. Continue to Bethlehem to visit Rachel’s Tomb and Church of the Nativity. Dinner and overnight in Jerusalem.
DECEMBER 3: Masada and the Dead Sea
Spend the day at the lowest place on Earth, The Dead Sea. Along the way, visit Masada and tour the historical fortress. Then enjoy some relaxing time on a private beach: float on the salty water experience the power of the healing muds. Dinner and departure at night from Tel Aviv.
DECEMBER 4: Arrive back home
Mirjam is a New York City based travel photographer specializing in international environmental portraiture, landscape photography and adventure images. Born and raised in the Netherlands, she has photographed in more than 75 countries, including many of the most exotic places in the world. Mirjam's photographs are indicative of her unique capacity to personally connect with diverse cultures and communities. Her eye for location lighting is highly stylized and works to illustrate and heighten the unique characteristics of each international locale. She is able to transcend cultural and language barriers with an intangible spirit that is conveyed in every image. Her work has appeared in AFAR, The New York Times, AARP, Outdoor Photographer, PDN, American Photo, Popular Photography, Digital Photo, Departures, MSN Travel.
Born in Brazil, Najat grew up in between the mountains of Lebanon and the skyscrapers of New York. Her diverse upbringing helped shape her desire to travel the world. Leading workshops, she has introduced many groups to photography while still exploring the cultures and diversity of the more than 40 countries she's visited. Her gift for languages (she speaks Arabic, Spanish and English fluently and a bit of Dutch and Portuguese) has enabled her to put people at ease through out her travels. She enjoys the opportunity that workshops give her to meet different types of people and introduce them to the beauty and marvel of the world. A huge believer in giving back, she is dedicated to supporting local charities throughout her travels. Her work has appeared in NY Times Magazine, American Photo, Financial Times, Interior Design, Popular Photography, The Editor at Large, HGTC.com, Trail of Inspiration.com, mocoloco.com and Oprah.com.
